This is our second renovation for this home and home owner. The ensuite bath can be an essential addition to any home, when it accomodates its users! The previous ensuite not only lacked size it was disfunctional and outdated. With the relocation of an adjacent laundry room we reconfigured the space by opening up the wall, moving the door and replacing the window with a smaller version. This allowed for a much larger shower and double vanity.
We opted for simplicity in cabinet construction and finish to focus on the custom tile design. Dark oak cabinets with a hint of silver glaze provides a horizontal grain feature. Storage was critical in this space:
-Lower deep drawers are made to fit tall bottles, extra supplies
-Full height wall cabinets are 13″ deep for towels and larger items.
-Easy access drawers are fitted with liners to keep smaller items tidy
-Shallow cabinets double as mirrors for small grooming items with power access thru the bottom of the cabient keeping items tucked away and surfaces clear of clutter.
Natural stone “bubbles” create an unique flow of design, contrast and colour to the sleek shower. Added niches hide the essentials from view as you enter the space. We used the Kerdi-Line drain system by Schluter® to keep the linear effect found in both the main tile and cabinet finish. All the finishes were selected to keep this space contemporary yet inviting. Delta faucets in stainless steel, quartz counter top and a heated floor will provide lasting style for this new ensuite.
