Before and After Makeovers

Before and After

Kitchen & Bathrooms that limit the full experience of your home are transformed into comfortable, enjoyable spaces that you can truly live in.

Before and After on Barlow 2 Project

Design Statement: The biggest challenge of this kitchen renovation was creating a workable space from a small, awkward space. The original kitchen had very little function, crowded prep areas and not nearly enough storage.  The main focus was to create open space bringing natural light, warmth and function while being able to enjoy the reason for purchasing the property – the waterfront view! Maximizing the use of the existing square footage by integrating ease-of-use storage, flow from the kitchen area to the family room and a usable home-office was our primary goals.  Closing a small opening from the kitchen to the formal dining room allowed for greater flexibility in appliance placement and a more functional work triangle. By extending the island into the old dining space we were able to increase the preparation area significantly doubling as an informal seating area. This allowed the additional use of the space for a desk area utilizing an adjacent closet. Large 18” tiles were used to blend the open space without the distraction of multiple patterns and lines saving the bold colour and pattern for the stone/glass combination backsplash. Colours and flow are unified from the kitchen, the family room continuing into the adjacent formal dining room with the addition of a second opening between the family room and dining room.
